WiseCare Urgent & Primary Care Proud to Promote American Heart Month #heartmonth

To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, WiseCare Urgent & Primary Care is proudly participating in American Heart Month.

Our mission to help spread the work locally, as statistics show many Anne Arundel County residents are affected by heart disease.

Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. for both men and women? The good news is you have the power to prevent heart disease and stroke.

The First Step? Talk to Your WiseCare doctor.

Our medical experts at WiseCare are here if you need help kicking off healthy changes to lower your risk of developing heart disease.

Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease.

Will you help us spread the word during American Heart Month?

WiseCare is now accepting new Primary Care (PCP) patients (residents new to our area, and those looking to change PCP providers with better appointment availability).

Remind your friends, family and co-workers WiseCare is open 365 days a year including nights and weekends – so now you have more scheduling options when it’s time for your annual physical, vaccinations and more.

 To Lower Your Risk:

  • Aim for a healthy weight.

  • Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.

  • Check and control your cholesterol and blood pressure.

  • Drink alcohol only in moderation.

  • Increase your activity level and reduce how long you sit at a given time.

  • Eat a healthy dietary pattern that limits saturated fats.

  • Request an EKG in either one of our medical offices so you can capture a baseline and/or detect early signs of heart disease.

  • Learn how to manage stress, relax, and cope with problems to improve physical and emotional health.

Other Factors:

Other factors such as thyroid disease or chemotherapy may also weaken the heart muscle. Further more, things you can’t control, like your family history, might increase your risk of heart disease.  But, leading a heart-healthy lifestyle might help you avoid or delay serious illness.

In honor of American Heart Month, call us today to set up a Primary Care appointment, request a physical, blood work, EKG, or a smoking and/or weight program consultation.
